Bodybuilding - Workout Advice

In order to make sure we get the most out of life, bodybuilding plays an essential role to maintain that peak physical shape and provide a solid foundation for healthy living.

The old adage comes to mind, your body is a temple, which is why it is so important to take care of it. Humans are now living longer than ever and most want to stay looking as young and healthy for as long as possible.

Preparation
  • It’s important before bodybuilding, that you stretch out well before you start lifting the weights. When it comes to bodybuilding, exercises can be broken down either as compound, which are exercises that involve more than one group of muscles, or isolation exercises, which are exercises that target a specific muscle group by concentrating on that one group of muscles only. Either way, to avoid pain or strain on your muscles, stretching and hydration are imperative.

Compound Vs. Isolation exercises
  • Multiple joint exercises include the all familiar bench press because both the shoulder and elbow muscles are working together to complete the movement cycle. The bench press targets several muscle groups together, the chest, shoulders and also the triceps. In comparison, single joint exercises like the common biceps curl only target that specific muscle and hence are considered isolated exercises only. If time is a factor, working several muscle groups at the same time enables you to do fewer exercises and reduce the time you spend in the gym.

Compound exercises
  • Compound exercises work several groups of muscles at the same time and are effective and highly productive because they produce significant results quickly. When bodybuilding, compound group exercises are ideal since they develop the body evenly. Compound group exercises work multiple joints or groups of muscles simultaneously. When you perform compound exercises, more muscle groups are utilized at the same time and can serve to speed up your workout. Compound exercises increase strength and definition far more effectively than single joint isolated exercises. Performing daily activities like just sitting, kneeling or walking involve multiple joints giving compound exercises a functional edge over isolated exercises.
